Abstract

STRATEGIC ALLIANCES IN LINER SHIPPING

Year 2022, Volume: 5 Issue: 1, 17 - 35, 31.03.2022

Abstract

Strategic alliances are voluntary agreements made by companies for the exchange, sharing and co-development of goods, services and technologies.
The activities of maritime alliances have increased intensively in the last decade and have met a new need arising from globalization. The most important objectives of container carriers in establishing strategic alliances are; benefiting from economies of scale, obtaining operational synergies, controlling the market in horizontal and vertical contexts, entering new markets, meeting customer needs, especially by using larger ships and reducing unit cost. The development of strategic alliances is crucial to this industry. This study systematically scanned and analyzed research on strategic alliances established in the field of maritime transport.
