Fotoğrafta Queer Pratikler ve Yaklaşımlar

Abstract

Bu çalışma, fotoğrafta queer pratikler ve yaklaşımlara ilişkin esnek bir çerçeve çizmeyi ve bu pratik ve yaklaşımların hangi başlıklar altında ele alınabileceğine ilişkin bir sınıflandırma yapmayı amaçlamaktadır. Makalede bir “queer fotoğraf” tanımı yapmaktan ziyade fotoğrafın kültürel ve tarihsel bağlamı içinde queer teori ve pratikle nasıl ilişkilendiği ortaya koyulmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda fotoğraf tarihi ve teorisine ilişkin literatür; sanat alanında queer yaklaşımlara ilişkin literatür; özellikle de Batı Amerika ve Avrupa’da 2000 sonrası dönemde sayıları artan sergiler incelenmiştir. Sonuç olarak (1) görünürlük ve tanınma politikası bağlamında queer bir arşiv inşa etmeye; (2) belgesel ve portre fotoğrafında yeni yaklaşımlar bağlamında üretimde bulunmaya; (3) performatif oto-portreler yoluyla kimliğin akışkanlığının altını çizmeye ve bakışın cinsel politikasını gündeme getirmeye yönelik yaklaşımlar olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte birden fazla başlığın altında ele alınabilecek sanatçı ve eserler bulunduğu için makalede yapılan sınıflandırmanın katı ve değişmez olmadığını söylemek gerekir.

Queer Practices and Approaches in Photography

Abstract

This article aims to draw a flexible framework for queer practices and approaches in photography and identify key themes under which these practices and approaches can be discussed. Instead of describing "queer photography", it aims to reveal how, in its cultural and historical context, photography is connected to queer theory and practice. The literature on the history/theory of photography and queer approaches to art, the exhibitions that increased in number in Western America and Europe after 2000, are analyzed. As a result, three core themes are identified: (1) to create a queer archive in the context of visibility and recognition (2) to make images within the framework of alternative approaches in the documentary and portrait photography (3) to underline the fluidity of identity through performative self-portraits and raise a question about sexual politics of looking. However, it should be noted that this is not a rigid and unchangeable classification and that there are artists and works that can be considered under more than one heading.
