Mastektomi Sonrası Eksternal Protez Kullanan Kadınların Memnuniyetleri

Abstract

Öz
Amaç: Bu araştırma Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nde yaşayan meme kanseri nedeniyle mastektomi uygulanan kadınların eksternal protez kullanımı ile ilgili memnuniyetlerini belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu araştırma Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nde yaşayan meme kanseri nedeniyle mastektomi uygulanan kadınların eksternal protez kullanımı ile ilgili memnuniyetlerini belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı tipte yapıldı. Çalışma verileri 01/12/2019-01/12/2021 tarihleri arasında toplandı. Çalışmaya belirlenen tarihlerde Kanser Hastalarına Yardım Derneğine başvuran ve çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden 96 kadın dahil edildi.
Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan katılımcıların %28,1’i 55-64 yaş arasında idi. Araştırmaya katılan kadınların %44,8’inin 5 yıldan daha uzun süre önce meme ameliyatı olduğu, %78,1’inin özel sütyen, %30,2’sinin meme protezini 1 ile 3 yıldır kullandığı, %41,7’sinin uyurken hariç her zaman kullandığı ve %42,7’sinin protezi ile rahat olduğu bulundu. Kadınların yaş ile meme protezinin görüntüsünden memnun olmaları arasında pozitif yönde orta düzey anlamlı ilişki saptandı. Yaş arttıkça meme protezi görüntüsünden daha fazla memnun oldukları saptandı. Medeni durum ile meme protezinin görüntüsünden memnun olma durumları arasındaki fark anlamlı idi (p<0,05). Yaş ve aktif çalışma ile günlük kullanım süresi arasında zayıf düzeyde ters yönlü ilişki vardı (p<0,05). Kadınların yaşı arttıkça günlük kullanma süreleri ve ev hanımı olma oranı arttıkça günlük kullanma süreleri azalmaktaydı.
Sonuç: Meme kanseri nedeniyle mastektomiye sahip olan kadınlar ek bir prosedüre ihtiyaç duymadan eksternal meme protezi ile iyi bir memnuniyet düzeyine ulaşabilmektedir. Mastektomi sonrası eksternal protez kullanımı ile kadınların dış görünüşünden memnun olma düzeylerini artırmak, daha kadınsı hissetmelerini konforlu bir şekilde sağlamak mümkün olabilir.
