Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Marmara University Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences is committed to applying the highest level of scientific publication ethics. The journal is based on the Core Code of Practice prepared in accordance with the guidelines and policies developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for journal editors. The journal refers to the publication ethics flowcharts developed by COPE (https://publicationethics.org/resources/flowcharts) in cases of abuse or breach of publication ethics.
In accordance with the COPE publication ethics principles, editors, reviewers and authors are obliged to observe the following ethical rules.

Editor

- The editor should ensure that the journal evaluates the manuscripts based solely on the quality of the manuscript, whether it is in line with the principles and objectives of the journal, and the comments of the referees, regardless of the authors' religion, language, race, gender, ethnic origin and political opinion.
- The editor should not use the information presented in the article for his/her own work.
- The editor should reject the article in case of ethical violations.
- The editor should keep the information about the manuscripts submitted to the journal confidential. This information should not be shared with anyone other than the corresponding author, referees and the editorial board.
- The editor should ensure that the articles are evaluated through a double blind review process.
- The editor, together with the editorial board, has full authority to accept, reject or request changes in the manuscripts submitted to the journal.

Reviewer

- Respond positively or negatively within a reasonable time frame when offered a refereeing position by the journal.
- Accept to review manuscripts that he/she thinks he/she can evaluate in a timely manner and has sufficient expertise.
- If he/she feels that he/she cannot provide a fair and impartial evaluation, he/she should report this.
- Adopt a double-blind peer review process.
- Be objective and constructive in their evaluations and avoid personal comments.
- Inform the editorial board if they suspect plagiarism or other ethical violations.
- They should not use the information obtained during the refereeing process for their own or others' advantage.
- Should not use any information contained in the manuscript before the publication of the manuscript in question.
- If he/she rejects a manuscript, he/she must state the reasons for rejection.

Author


- The manuscript must be original, not previously published, and not currently under review in another journal.
- All authors named in the manuscript must have contributed to the study.
- Authors should provide access to the data sets used in the article if needed.
- If the author realizes that there is a significant error in the published manuscript, he/she should inform the editorial board.
- For studies that require ethics committee approval, the author must submit the ethics committee approval to the journal.
- Copyright laws and agreements in practice should be observed. Copyrighted material (e.g. tables, figures or large quotations) should be used with the necessary permission and acknowledgment. References used in the article should be used appropriately and cited in the references.
