A Profile Essay on Eskişehir City Press and City Journalism : The Attitudes of the Journalists Towards The City Press

In this study, the importance of the city press and city journalism was introduced, taking Eskişehir case as a starting point. The aim of this study is to analyze the contents of the newspapers published in Eskişehir in 2007 and to analyze the structures and operations of the newspapers as organizations, the working conditions of the journalists and their attitudes towards journalism profession. First of all, the profiles of the eight newspapers (Ak Haber, Anadolu, Burç, İki Eylül, İstikbal, Milli İrade, Sakarya ve Sonhaber), which compose Eskişehir city press, were revealed by qualitative text analysis. The radios and televisions, which broadcast in Eskişehir, were not included in this study. The production stages of the newspapers, their ownership structures, their circulations / the rate of net sales, their interactions with the political and economical environment, their editorial autonomies, their problems etc. were evaluated according to the data gathered from the deep interviews. According to the findings of the study it was determined that the city press in Eskişehir has economical problems and it has the sense of broadcasting which give priority to the public interest and and it has uniformity in the sense of news contents.

Ce travail a pour but de mettre à jour l'importance de la presse et du journalisme d'Eskişehir et d'analyser sa spécificité comme la presse de la ville concernant l'année 2007, par son contenu, parsa structure en tant qu'institution, sa fonction, par les conditions de travail des journalistes et leur approche du métier du journalisme. Nous avons mis à jour, à priori, les profils des huit journaux (Ak Haber, Anadolu, Burç, İki Eylül, İstikbal, Milli İrade, Sakarya ve Sonhaber) qui constituent la presse d'Eskişehir, par une analyse qualitative de contenu textuel. Les radios et les télévisions qui ont des émissions à Eskişehir sont tenues à l'écart de ce travail. Le stade de production, l'appartenance à un propriétaire quelconque, la proportion de tirage / vente nette, l'influence réciproque avec le milieu politique et économique, l'autonomie éditoriale, les problèmes généraux et al, sont évalués sur les données obtenues par des entretiens réalisés en détail avec les représentants des journalistes. Selon les données que nous avons obtenues, il existe des problèmes économiques, et, une conception de la presse publique qui met à l'avant l'intérêt commun à l'intérêt personel

Bu çalışmanın konusunu, tekelleşmiş yaygın basın karşısında, Eskişehir özelinden yola çıkarak kent basınının ve gazeteciliğinin öneminin ortaya konulması oluşturmaktadır. 2007 yılı itibariyle Eskişehir'de günlük olarak yayımlanan gazetelerin içerikleri ve bir kurum olarak yapısı, işleyişi, gazetecilerin çalışma koşulları ve gazetecilik mesleğine yaklaşımlarının analizi çalışmanın amacını oluşturmaktadır. Öncelikle, Eskişehir kent basınını oluşturan sekiz gazetenin (Ak Haber, Anadolu, Burç, İki Eylül, İstikbal, Milli İrade, Sakarya ve Sonhaber) içerikleri nitel metin analizi yöntemiyle çözümlenerekprofilleri ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Eskişehir'de yayın yapan radyo ve televizyonlar ise bu çalışmanın kapsamı dışında tutulmuştur. Gazetelerin üretim aşaması, sahiplik yapısı, tirajlar/net satış oranları, siyasal ve ekonomik çevre ile olan etkileşim, editoryal özerklik, yaşanılan sorunlar vb. unsurlar gazete temsilcileri ile gerçekleştirilen derinlemesine görüşmelerden elde edilen bulgulardan yola çıkılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın bulgularına göre, Eskişehir kent basınının ekonomik sorunları olduğu ve kamu yararını öne çıkaran bir yayıncılık anlayışına sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
