Kurmaca Filmler Üzerinden Sinema ve Tarih İlişkisine Bakış
Abstract
The main aim of this study is to examine the relationship between cinema and history in general and concentrate on the relation between historical films and historical realities. The history is one of the major concerns of historians with the reasons for realizing our identities and personalities, understanding today and producing different kinds of point of views and so on. Lots of images related to past have been produced in our memories via cinema. While in one hand, the history that has an important role in forming our visual memories is a wide source for the cinema, on the other hand it is a fact that has some boundaries restricting creativity on the base of historical objectivity. With the thoughts that there is a tendency towards history via popular films for the last ten years and filmmakers rewrite the history, it will be discussed that not only documentary films but narratives can also be used in history education for social analysis. In the end, the study comes to a conclusion that there can be the possibility to reach to the invisible parts of past of the societies with social and historical re-evaluation of the cinema in general and historical films in special; taking Andreas Huyssen hypothesis on the representation of memory and past as a base, the gap between past and representation of past -"unknown" field - can be taken as a stimulus and this unknown field special to human being can also be the point that the filmmaker can also use his creativity freely in the light of historical data.
